DSSA BASKETBALL & SOCCER CAMP - July 22 -25, 2024
DSSA is delighted to be holding its first basketball and next soccer camp in Phoenix, Arizona at the Ability 360 Center. The day camp is indoors (!) and is for both established players looking to be selected for our next overseas event - SU-DS European Soccer & Basketball Competition in Italy (tbc) in 2025 as well as less experienced players. You can elect to play either soccer, basketball or both! For soccer only players, who have not been to a DSSA camp before, you can come and try out soccer at a special price for the camp courtesy of a US Soccer sponsored initiative called "Innovate to Grow" - see below for more information. Also of note is the National Down Syndrome Congress Convention which kicks off on the last day of our camp. So you may wish to combine the two activities! DSSA will be participating in the NDSC convention and if you are going to be there, please let us know.

Who:
- Anyone with Down syndrome aged 12+.
Why:
- To provide a sporting, fun, and safe environment for players with Down syndrome to train in the games of basketball & futsal (a 5 a-side indoor variation of soccer).
When:
- Monday July, 22 to Thursday July, 25, 9am - 5pm. Parents and Supporters may leave their players with us or you may watch them, play-space permitting. In any event, please aim to attend and view the final session and presentation on Thursday July, 25.

Where - Accommodation:
For campers, attending daily and requiring overnight accommodation, we recommend the following hotels:
- Crowne Plaza Phoenix Airport (1 mile from training venue) rates from $102 per night
- Comfort Inn & Suites (3.8 miles from training venue) rates from $86 per night - booking link to follow
- Hampton Inn & Suites (3.7 miles from training venue) rates from $108 per night

Costs:
- Week Camper - $299
- Day Camper - $80 per day
- Day Camper - $30 per day. Rate available, courtesy of US Soccer ITG grant for first time soccer campers only.
- Camp fees include venue hire, expert coaching, all equipment, a DSSA T-Shirt, water bottle, snacks and lunch.
- Athletes are responsible for getting to the training venue (Ability 360) and, where required, arranging accommodation breakfast and dinners. See left for hotel recommendation and group rates organized by DSSA.
